Grilling with Shine Cookoff
2023 BBQ Challenge – Stouffville
The first Grilling with Shine Stouffville Cookoff took place on Saturday, June 17 at the Coach House Pub in Stouffville, Ontario.
The Cookoff was a well-attended and major success with 10 teams of BBQ enthusiasts showing their grilling skills under the pressure of having only 4-hours to prep, bbq and present three courses from a random pick surprise BBQ box prepared by Stouffville’s top butcher, The Meat Merchant. Each box contained a big block of pork belly, a stack of chicken thighs and a full hanger steak, the Grilling with Shine BBQ trio and the secret ingredient, a whack of fresh rhubarb and the final results were outstanding… this was a gastro-experience, not a BBQ contest.
This fun and exciting event was filmed for an upcoming episode of Grilling with Shine and our panel of tough celebrity foodie judges included Christine the head chef from the Coach House Pub, Tina the party queen and Dave the global gastronomical genius. The winning teams were awarded with laser engraved plaques and gift bags and the overall Champs by combined scores and crowd vote were the Maple Root Smokers from Bellville, Ontario and their name will be on the Grilling with Shine Stouffville Cookoff trophy which will be added to the wall of the Coach House Pub.
Thanks to everyone who came out and laughed, tasted and cheered on your favourite BBQ team… and helped raise a giant pile of condiments and food for the Stouffville Food Bank.
